An AI note taker for architects and engineers

Who carries it: Field architect / engineer

Construction administration runs on what you saw and said on site, and most of it never makes the field report. An AI note taker for architects captures narrated site observations, punch walks, and client design conversations as they happen — by evening the field report is drafted and the punch items are assigned.

CA documentation is your E&O policy's best friend.

A hand holding chit one between thumb and forefinger, the card the size of a credit card.

When a field architect presses it

  • Site observations
  • punch walks
  • client design conversations
Teach it your job

Project architect; narrate CA site observations and punch items.

A context like this — typed once into the app — is how chit stops being a generic recorder and starts being yours.

What the end of the day gives back

Field reports drafted; punch items assigned.

What the company sees

Site observations narrated per visit, on record across the firm's projects.

Where the data lives

Design-decision provenance, narrated on site and held in the firm's own VPC.

The site observation and the reason behind it

Construction administration is a documentation exercise disguised as a site visit. What you observed, what you accepted, what you rejected and why — the last one being the part that matters and the part that never gets written. Narrate the punch walk and the client design conversation as you go. The field report drafts that evening with the punch items assigned. The design-decision provenance is the quieter value: months later, when somebody asks why the detail changed, the answer is the conversation in which it changed, held in the firm's own VPC. That is the kind of contemporaneous record an E&O defence gets argued from, though it is a record rather than a defence in itself.

Good questions

Can I dictate punch items as I walk the site?

Yes. Hold the button and narrate — chit is credit-card-sized, so it rides along with a clipboard or a set of drawings. It records offline and syncs later, so a basement mechanical room with no signal still gets captured.

Does it actually draft the field report?

That evening the $9/month membership returns the day's observations as a digest of decisions, actions, and items with owners attached — the field report drafted for your review, punch items queued as follow-ups.

Can I find what the client decided about a detail months ago?

Ask-anything search runs across everything you've captured — "what did we agree on the stair guardrail" — and returns the conversation with its timestamp. When a question surfaces years later, you have the record of who said what, when.

Can the firm keep transcripts on its own infrastructure?

Yes. Firm deployments run as branded device fleets with audio and transcripts resident in your own VPC. See hichit.com/enterprise, and ask us about compliance deployments.

How long does the battery last between site visits?

About a month of typical use. It records only while the button is held — no always-on mic draining it in your bag.

Recording laws differ by state, and several require every party's consent. chit only captures while the button is held — know your state's rule before recording another person.
